After Nicholas Hoult nabbed the demanding role of Beast in X-Men: First Class, he caught the eye of that film's producer, Bryan Singer, and made a strong enough impression that Singer cast him as the lead in his next film Jack the Giant Killer.

Bryan Singer has now revealed some of the reasons he chose Nicholas Hoult for this upcoming motion capture adventure. Here is what he had to say.

"He's a really fine actor, and he also has a charm and an innocence that I noticed when we cast him as Beast. He needed those qualities because in X-Men, he's this excitable scientist who's going through a transformation, and in Jack he's a lovestruck farmboy who also transforms in the movie. He falls for a princess and then goes off to rescue her. It's a very traditional fairytale."

Bryan Singer will begin shooting Jack the Giant Killer later this year. It will be his first project since 2008's Valkyrie.
