TV director Don Scardino has signed on to make his feature directorial debut with the New Line comedy Burt Wonderstone. We reported back in February that Charles McDougall was locked in to direct, although it seems a deal was never made.

Steve Carell is attached to star as the title character, a popular Las Vegas magician who gets upstaged by a hip new illusionist, and must find a way to reclaim his love of magic to make a comeback.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein wrote the most recent version of the screenplay. New Line has been developing the comedy since 2006 when it purchased Chad Kultgen's spec screenplay.

Don Scardino has won two Emmy's for his work as a director and producer on the hit NBC comedy 30 Rock. He has also directed episodes of Royal Pains, Rescue Me, and Law & Order, just to name a few.
