Australian actor Callan McAuliffe has signed on for a role in Rob Reiner's Flipped for Warner Bros.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McAuliffe will play the foil and eventual love interest to Madeline Carroll in a comedy adapted from Wendelin Van Draanen's 2001 young-adult novel.

Aidan Quinn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Mahoney, Anthony Edwards, Rebecca De Mornay and Kevin Weisman recently were cast as the grown-ups surrounding antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they reach their teens.

Reiner is directing, and he also co-wrote the screenplay with writer-producer Andy Scheinman.

The film will begin production in late June in Michigan.
