Kung Fu Panda screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger have signed onto write Candy Land for Universal Pictures.

We reported back in February 2009 that Universal Pictures acquired the rights to the popular board game. Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) was initially attached to write the screenplay, though now Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger will take over the writing duties.

The story, which is described as a live-action epic, centers on a group who try to find the lost king of Candy Land, traveling through such locales as the Candy Cane Forrest and Gum Drop Mountain. Other characters such as Princess Frostine and Gramma Nutt, and the nefarious Lord Licorice will also be featured as well.

Kevin Lima (Enchanted) is attached to direct, with Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir producing. No production schedule was revealed for Candy Land.
