Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Emily VanCamp has signed on to reprise her role as Agent 13, in Marvel's sequel Captain America: Civil War. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp played "Kate," the unassuming neighbor of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who he later learns is actually a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent dubbed Agent 13, assigned to watch over him. Since S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it isn't clear quite yet how she fits into the Captain America: Civil War story line.

In the comics, Agent 13 was actually Sharon Carter, the niece of Steve Rogers' love interest Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), but the movies haven't yet established Agent 13 as Sharon Carter quite yet. The actress joins a cast that also includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Frank Grillo (Crossbones), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch). Martin Freeman also joined the cast yesterday, and while his character has yet to be confirmed, it is rumored that he is playing Everett Ross.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing Captain America: Civil War from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, based on Marvel's popular Civil War comics written by Mark Millar. Production is currently under way in Atlanta, Georgia, with a May 6, 2016 release date already set. Emily VanCamp is best known for her starring role as Emily Thorne on ABC's Revenge, which was recently cancelled after four seasons.
