You probably know by now that Marvel's first Phase Three movie Captain America: Civil War is going to be a huge spectacle. Practically all of The Avengers, old and new, will be present, except for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), along with a few new characters like Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and an unspecified character played by Martin Freeman. When Daniel Brühl was confirmed as Baron Zemo in April, most believed he was the main villain in Captain America: Civil War. But others believe that distinction goes to Crossbones. We now have confirmation from actress Elizabeth Olsen that Daniel Brühl is playing the big bad in this sequel. She revealed the news in an interview with Premiere.fr.

"Daniel Brühl is an incredible actor and he's playing the main villain in it. And he's incredible! It's a movie about people as opposed to robots this time. So it's darker and it's allowed to be darker because it gets more in the mindset of humans rather than machines."

The news doesn't come as much of a surprise, given the speculation swirling around his character, but we don't know exactly what his villainous plan may be. We do know that Captain America: Civil War will split the Marvel Cinematic Universe in half, with some heroes siding with Captain America (Chris Evans) and others siding with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). While Elizabeth Olsen wouldn't confirm which side her character Scarlet Witch is on, the actress did add that she thinks this movie will be Marvel's best yet.

"[Scarlet Witch is] someone who's more powerful than she's able to control and she ends up going insane because of it. And she's like a wildcard. You never know [if] she's a hero or a villain, and that's a very fun part. I think [Captain America: Civil War is] going to be the best one. For real, I am very excited to see it myself. I only worked on set for five weeks. So I wasn't there for the majority of it."

Scarlet Witch was first introduced in this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron, alongside her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). At the end of the superhero sequel, Scarlet Witch became one of the new Avengers, a team lead by Captain America and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), along with Falcon (Anthony Mackie), War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Vision (Paul Bettany). During Avengers: Age of Ultron's production, several set photos and videos leaked, but Elizabeth Olsen revealed she was glad they were able to keep the big secrets intact.

"Being part of a Marvel movie makes me feel like I'm doing the most top secret thing in the world. It's ridiculous because it's a film, but also it's too bad when people want to spoil things about movies or paparazzi are on set taking pictures of certain things. And everyone then gets to guess what it is that you're filming. And it ruins it for everyone. It just so happens that in Avengers: Age of Ultron we were able to keep a lot of things secret so there were surprises for the audience which is great."

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016, setting the stage for a nine-movie Phase Three, including Doctor Strange (November 4, 2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017), Thor: Ragnarok (November 2, 2017), Avengers: Infinity War Part I (May 4, 2018), Black Panther (July 6, 2018), Captain Marvel (November 2, 2018), Avengers: Infinity War - Part II (May 3, 2019) and Inhumans (July 12, 2019).
