Composer Alan Silvestri will write the music for the upcoming superhero adventure Captain America: The First Avenger, which will arrive in theaters on July 22. Alan Menken will also have a hand in the music for Captain America: The First Avenger, although it is believed he is writing a USO-type song.

Alan Silvestri's last film scoring gig was with last summer's action-adventure The A-Team. He hasn't composed a score for a superhero project since Judge Dredd. It will be interesting to see if he comes aboard the upcoming remake Dredd as well, which hits theaters sometime next year.

Among Alan Silvestri's notable scores are Back to The Future, Forrest Gump, and The Polar Express, the last two of which he received Oscar nominations for.

Other composers such as Michael Giacchino and John Powell were in the rumored to take the Captain America: The First Avenger scoring job, although now Alan Silvestri has the job locked up.
