Fans still have more than three years until Captain Marvel hits theaters, but many are curious about who Marvel will cast as the title character. A number of actresses have expressed interest in the role, and an unconfirmed report from last month claims that Marvel has already cast Emily Blunt as Carol Danvers. While we wait for any confirmation from the studio, actress and UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey revealed during a Reddit AMA that she is interested in taking on the role. Here's what she had to say, when a fan asked her what superhero she would like to play.

"Well... a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I'd like to vie for Miss Marvel."

It isn't known if there is any interest from Marvel regarding Ronda Rousey starring as Captain Marvel. Other actresses such as Vikings star Katheryn Winnick, Jessica Chastain and Katee Sackhoff have been rumored for the role, but it isn't known if Marvel has actually met any of these actresses yet. Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve have signed on to write the screenplay, but the superhero movie doesn't have a director in place at this time.

Another rumor surfaced in June that Marvel was eyeing Charlize Theron to star as Carol Danvers and Angelina Jolie to direct. This came just a few months after another report claimed that Marvel offered Angelina Jolie $20 million to direct Captain Marvel, but it isn't known if that massive sum was actually offered to the director or not. The actress/filmmaker is currently in post-production on By the Sea, in which she also stars alongside her husband Brad Pitt, and she is also prepping her next directorial project, Africa, which also has Brad Pitt set to star.

Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, made her first comic book appearance in 1968's "Marvel Super-Heroes" #13. She was a U.S. Air Force security chief who is transformed into Captain Marvel after an explosion exposed her to Kree technology. Captain Marvel's powers include superhuman strength and the ability to fly after her DNA was infused with a Kree alien. Given the character's connection to Kree alien technology, it's possible that she could show up in Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, one of the last Phase Three movies.

As for Ronda Rousey, the actress/UFC fighter is coming off her 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia last weekend, bringing her MMA record to 12-0. Earlier this year, she appeared in both Furious 7 and Entourage, and she just signed on to star in a biopic based on her own life, entitled My Fight/Your Fight. She is also attached to star in an adaptation of Brad Thor's novel The Athena Project. Do you think she would be a good fit to play Captain Marvel?
