CBS has decided that being in the spin-off business is definitely good, with plans for another in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is considering a spin-off to its popular series Criminal Minds.

The spin-off would be created by Criminal Minds executive producer and showrunner Ed Bernero and executive producer Chris Mundy. Mundy will write the pilot, which would air this spring as a regular Criminal Minds episode, based off a story from both Mundy and Bernero. It was said that the spin-off would feature all new FBI agents and won't deal with existing characters in the original series.

The network's spin-off formula has worked like a charm so far, with the network employing the same tactics with with Criminal Minds as it has in the past. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation used the same formula in spinning off into CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. The network's recent spin-off success is the new series NCIS: Los Angeles, which garnered the highest rating of any new series this fall, and is a spin-off of NCIS, which itself is a spin-off of the long-running JAG series.
