Magic Mike star Channing Tatum is in talks with Columbia Pictures to star and produce an upcoming film centering on daredevil Evel Knievel.

The actor will produce alongside Iron Horse Entertainment's Reid Carolin, who is also adapting the screenplay from Stuart Barker's book. Fifty Shades of Grey producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are also attached to produce.

Evel Knievel was born in the town of Butte, Montana in 1938. He became a household name in the 1970s for his death-defying jumps in front of national TV audiences. He holds several world records, including the Guiness Book of World Records mark for the most broken bones in a lifetime, with 433. The showman died of pulmonary disease in 2007.

This project is not related to another Evel Knievel biopic we reported on last June, which has Ric Roman Waugh attached to write and direct.
