Changing Lanes screenwriter Chap Taylor has been brought onto adapt Gideon's Sword for Paramount Pictures and producer Michael Bay, according to Heat Vision Blog.

We reported back in May that Michael Bay had come aboard to produce the film based on the novel by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. The book will be the first in a 12 part series which focuses on a man named Gideon Crew, who has the ability to convince anyone of anything at all. The first installment has Gideon trying to clear his father's name, who is falsely being held by the NSA, while also trying to save the world from imminent doom.

The site reports that Paramount and Michael Bay are looking to start up a Jason Bourne-type franchise based on this series. The first novel will be released in February 2011 and is a spin-off of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's "Agent Pedergrast" novel series, where the Gideon Crew character first appeared.
