Charlize Theron has signed on to star in and produce an untitled crime thriller for Paramount Pictures. No details were given for her character.

The Killing writer Dan Nowak wrote the screenplay, which centers on a corrupt group of vigilantes. The story was compared to The Departed and last year's hit End of Watch.

Ian Bryce is producing through the first-look deal he signed with Paramount last year. Charlize Theron is producing through her Denver & Delilah production company. Before making the transition to producer, Ian Bryce served as the line producer on Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Pain and Gain, and World War Z.

This project is the latest in a string of projects Charlize Theron has set up as both an actress and producer. She is starring in and producing Gone Girl for director David Fincher, and we reported last week that she is attached as an actress and producer on the Skydance Productions comedy Ladies Night.
