Last month, actor James Franco dropped out of The Iceman, where he was set to play Robert Pronge, the protege of serial killer Richard Kuklinski (Michael Shannon) for Warner Bros. Today we have news that actor Chris Evans has finalized a deal to replace James Franco as Robert Pronge.

The drama is based on Anthony Bruno's book, The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer, which explores the life of Richard Kuklinski. The project is also partially based on footage from the HBO documentary The Iceman Interviews. There was talk that The Iceman may have been falling apart after James Franco's departure, although now it seems to be back on track, with production scheduled to begin next month.

Ariel Vromen is directing The Iceman from an adapted screenplay he co-wrote with Morgan Land. Ray Liotta, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and David Schwimmer also star in The Iceman.
