Christina Ricci is the latest actor to join the live-action adaptation of Larry and Andy Wachowski's Speed Racer for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Already part of the cast, Emile Hirsch (Speed), John Goodman (Pops), and Susan Sarandon (Pops' wife). The film will center on the young race car driver, Speed, and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5, says The Hollywood Reporter. Ricci will star as Speed's girlfriend Trixie, his formidable ally on and off the track.
The Wachowskis are writing and directing Speed Racer; a summer shoot in Berlin is scheduled for the start of production with a summer 2008 release.
