It's always good to revamp classics and bring them to the new generations. That is what happened with Chucky, Syfy and USA Network's television series that premiered on October 12, 2021, which gives a new light to the doll possessed by a serial killer.

Based on the Child's Play franchise, Chucky takes place after the events of the 2017 film Cult of Chucky and has been critically acclaimed for its absurd horror mixed with a lot of dark humor, being called a "bloody good time" for the viewers. Also, its LGBTQ+ inclusiveness was praised, even winning GLAAD nominations for the show. So it wasn't shocking when the series was renewed for a second season in November 2021, after hooking audiences in season one.

Created by Don Mancini, who wrote all the franchise films and directed the last three, Chucky follows the story of the 14-year-old Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), an artist-to-be obsessed with dolls. After buying a Good Guy doll in a yard sale, he discovers that serial killer Charles Lee Ray possesses the doll, voiced again by Brad Dourif.

Being a serial killer, Chucky starts to commit a series of murders around Jake's town of Hackensack, New Jersey. Jake's father is the first one killed, followed by other murders, including a housemaid and Jake's aunt. Nobody believes that a doll is committing murders, and Jake becomes the suspect in these crimes. To defeat Chucky, Jake needs to reunite with his bully turned friend Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and his crush-turned-boyfriend Devon Evans (Björgvin Arnarson) and deal with a serial killer while trying to make it onto high school dramas.

Chucky is a continuation of the iconic film franchise chronicling the murderous escapades of the notorious killer doll. In the TV series, Chucky crosses paths with archenemies, old allies, and new prey as he seeks to inspire fear and mayhem wherever he goes. With that, let's take a look at what we know about the plot, cast, and everything else we know so far about Chucky season 2!

Chucky Season 2: The Plot

Chucky's season one finale left a lot of plot lines and loose ends that can be explored in its second season. Even though all the Chucky dolls appear to be taken down by Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) and Kyle (Christine Elise), it's revealed at the episode's end that Chucky has been preparing an army of Good Guy dolls. He is possessing them to do who knows what, the main hook of the finale.

It's also expected to be revealed if Kyle – a fan favorite and Andy's foster sister from Child's Play 2 – is dead or not. There's also suspense regarding what will happen with Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) after Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) amputated her arms and legs just in case Chucky controls her body again.

Also, it is impossible not to be eager to know what the future holds for the main trio: Jake, Lexy, and Devon. They finish the first season without some of their families and friends, so their plot – and friendships – are something that can be a focus in the new season.

The official synopsis:

After his diabolical plan to invade America’s children’s hospitals was foiled in season one, Chucky now seeks revenge on those he holds responsible: surviving teens Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarsonq) and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), along with his ex Tiffany, now his sworn enemy. Meanwhile, can “Jevon” make it as a couple in the face of adversity at their new Catholic school, not to mention a brand-new onslaught of terror from the demon doll?

The best thing is that, although the synopsis gives fans more questions than answers, it won't take long for them to start unraveling the mysteries that Chucky season 2 has in store for them.

Chucky Season 2: The Cast

Aside from all the characters who died in the first season – and its actors who can't return because their characters are dead – we can expect everyone who survived the season one finale returns to Chucky season 2. The protagonist and Chucky's owner, Jake, is expected to return, along with Björgvin Arnarson and Alyvia Alyn Lind.

Other actors we should expect to see again include Alex Vincent, Fiona Dourif, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. Jennifer Tilly is expected to return as Tiffany as well. But an actress we don't know the status of is Christine Elise. Kyle's supposed off-screen death leaves an open door for her return.

Chucky season 2 also features mother-daughter acting duo Alyvia Alyn Lind and Barbara Alyn Woods, who is set to return as Mayor Michelle Cross, along with Lara Jean Chorostecki -- who will star in a recurring role -- and several more new cast members familiar with the horror genre, including Gina Gershon and Joe Pantoliano of Bound, Tony Nappo of Saw II, Lara Jean Chorostecki of Hannibal and Sutton Stracke of reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Premiere Date

Chucky
SYFY/USA Network

Immediately after Chucky season 1 came to an end, fans were dying for season 2. With a long shoot in tow, season 2 was expected at the earliest this year. Don Mancini, the series creator, executive producer, and showrunner, confirmed this information:

“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky. Many thanks to our partners at USA, Syfy and UCP for their incredible support and guidance in bringing Chucky to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022!'”

Considering Halloween is close, and Chucky is full of blood and horror, there is no better date to premiere the show than October. Although Chucky season 2 will arrive in October, indeed, it will be earlier than fans expected since the series is set to premiere on October 5 at 9 pm ET/PT on USA and SYFY.
