Studios are not slowing down on their want and need to make live action adaptations of every fairytale character known to man. Walt Disney Pictures is embarking on a 3D live action adaptation of Cinderella, and they are trying to nail down Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo; Bee Season) to direct.

This version of Cinderella will look an awful lot like 2010's 3D Alice in Wonderland, complete with an all-star cast (though no casting announcements have been made as of yet).

Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the hit drama The Devil Wears Prada, wrote the pitch that Disney picked up. Aline Brosh McKenna's script is said to update the classic story, with a prince locked in a politically prearranged marriage that goes off the rails once he falls for the Pumpkin driving Cinderella, complete with the horrible step sisters, the glass slipper, and all.

No deal is in place with Mark Romanek just yet, but the project remains a priority for Disney. Expect an official announcement soon.
