Warner Bros. has given Clint Eastwood's American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, a limited Christmas day release date. The film will see a wider release on January 16th.

The studio has also moved Guy Ritchie's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. from January to August 14, 2015 and the Point Break remake from August 7, 2015 to July 31, 2015. American Sniper will be competing with Tim Burton's drama Big Eyes, Steve Pink's comedy sequel Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Angelina Jolie's second film Unbroken, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's comedy The Interview and the fantasy musical Into the Woods.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will go against the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton with Point Break opening alongside Sacha Baron Cohen's spy comedy Grimsby.

American Sniper is based on Chris Kyle's autobiography, a United States Navy SEAL who claimed to be the most lethal sniper in American military history with 160 "confirmed" kills out of 255 claimed kills.
