‘Cobra - The Space Pirate’ Concept Art Banner

The first banner has been released for the upcoming manga adaptation Cobra - The Space Pirate, which should hit theaters sometime in 2013. Take a look at concept art for this genre adventure below, and read on for more details on this project.

Cobra - The Space Pirate Banner

Back in August we reported that director Alexandre Aja is adapting the Cobra - The Space Pirate manga, which was created by Buichi Terasawa. It isn't known when Cobra - The Space Pirate will start production, although Alexandre Aja is currently shopping the project around. Take a look at the synopsis for Cobra - The Space Pirate below.

In a future where merchant spaceships and ruthless brigands sail across space, Cobra is a notorious rogue pirate whose refusal to align with the United Galaxies Federation or the Pirates Guild puts him on the business end of a huge bounty. As he tries to keep his identity secret and avoid capture, Cobra teams up with a sexy bounty hunter named Jane, who is out to locate her sisters and decode a treasure map tattooed on their backs. Their goal: to liberate a lost treasure on Mars. To Aja, Cobra was every bit a seminal rogue as Han Solo or Indiana Jones.

Cobra - The Space Pirate was released in 2013.

I've never heard of this, but seeing Aja's name attached turns me off. Too bad, cuz the concept sounds interesting.

This is one of the best sci-fic adventure and may I say it's got more 'stuff' than Starwars, but I am not sure about Alexandre Aja and mostly the budget they have for this movie.

@kguy I didn't get to see it but I figured it wasn't going to be anything great. I can see what he was going for with it though. He's a director that likes throwback styles, and all of his films have been and outlet to experiment those on. Though I can't really comment on his last two since I haven't seen them. His first two are awesome, and deliver in every aspect.

I know he is hit or miss but Aja has a unique style and that interests me. I will see this for sure.

He is sot of a guilty pleasure of mine.

@kguy Aja is horrid based on what, High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes were both great movies. Granted his last two movies were whatever, but that hardly makes him horrid.

@ CelluloiddreamsThis is one of the finest anime series from the 80's...let's see how it works, because as an action-adventure movie, i think it could work with propper script and casting...
