When a successful New York advertising executive suffers a great tragedy he retreats from life. While his concerned friends try desperately to reconnect with him, he seeks answers from the universe by writing letters to Love, Time and Death.  But it's not until his notes bring unexpected personal responses that he begins to understand how these constants interlock in a life fully lived, and how even the deepest loss can reveal moments of meaning and beauty.

Today, we have the second full-length trailer from Collateral Beauty, which gives us a better understanding of this unique holiday movie. And it appears to be a true awards season contender. Is Will Smith on the path to Oscar glory? He very well could be!

The Oscar has thus far eluded Will Smith, considered one of the true superstars of the past few decades. He was first nominated in 2002 for his portray of boxer Muhammad Ali in the the biopic Ali. He was then nominated again in 2007 for his lead performance in the drama The Pursuit of Happyness, the first movie in which he starred opposite his son Jaden Smith. Will Smith has not won an Oscar yet, but this could be his year.

Collateral Beauty does have the unfortunate task of opening on the same day as LucasFilm's first Star Wars spin off, Rogue One. Both movies are catering to two completely different audiences, so they both may end up faring quite well at the box office this holiday season. Collateral Beauty is helped along by one of the best ensemble casts of the holiday season. It includes Helen Mirren as "Death," Keira Knightley as "Love" and Jacob Lattimore as "Time," who all come together to help Howard through these troubling times. Edward Norton, Michael Pena, Naomie Harris and Kate Winslet also star in this drama.

This drama comes just months after Will Smith played the assassin Deadshot in Suicide Squad, with the actor taking a far different approach to death with this new character. David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) is directing Collateral Beauty from an original screenplay by Allan Loeb (The Space Between Us). Loeb is also a producer on the film, together with Bard Dorros (Triple 9) and Michael Sugar (Best Picture Oscar winner Spotlight) under the Anonymous Content banner. Anthony Bregman (Foxcatcher) also produces for Likely Story with Kevin Scott Frakes (John Wick) for PalmStar Media. Take a look at the new trailer courtesy of Warner Bros.
