According to The Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central said Monday that it has given the go-ahead to comedian Sarah Silverman's new half-hour series. The cable network has ordered six episodes of the tentatively titled The Sarah Silverman Program, which is set to premiere in the summer.

Based on an idea by Silverman, Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, the series stars Silverman as a character -- also named Sarah Silverman -- whose absurd daily life will be told through an array of scripted comedic scenes and songs.
