On September 25th, Marvel One Shot: Item 47 will debut with Marvel's The Avengers when it hits Blu-ray for the first time this fall. While dusting the convention center floors of Comic-Con with its pixie dust magic last night, Marvel actually previewed this latest short film for fans after engaging them in a scavenger hunt, and it proved to be the most ambitious of the Marvel One-Shot short films thus far.

Clocking in at roughly twelve minutes, the short was introduced by Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., while sitting in the bathroom on the North Carolina set. He joked about filming his big "toilet escape" scene in a nod to director Shane Black 's earlier work scripting Lethal Weapon.

Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford take the lead roles in Marvel One Shot: Item 47, starring as young couple Benny and Claire, and its no coincidence that their names hit close to Bonnie and Clyde. Traversing the crumbled rubble of New York City in the aftermath of an alien invasion, the two lovers happen up one of the Chitauri weapons left behind in the devastation. It is the 47th unclaimed item not yet retrieved by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And now it's in the hands of two people strapped and desperate for cash. What would you do in this situation? Well, Benny and Claire use this atom destroying laser gun to go on a bank-robbing spree. And the destroy a couple of small towns in the process.

Maximillano Hernandez returns as S.H.E.I.L.D. Agent Sitwell, while Titus Welliver makes is first appearance as Agent Blake. These two no-nonsense, hardened men are tasked with bringing in Benny and Clyde, which proves to be no easy task.

It is unclear if Benny and Claire are being set up for future Marvel films, but Agent Sitwell will be returning, most likely in Iron Man 3. There are not a lot of tie-ins to existing Marvel projects here, that are evident. We do learn why the Chitauri weapon is still functioning, which is a fun surprise I won't spoil at this time.

Be sure to check out the short when it arrives this September. We'll have more from the Iron Man 3 Comic-Con 2012 presentation later in the day.
