Although the news hasn't been confirmed by Marvel Studios, Film Score Monthly reader Adam Krysinski revealed that Brian Tyler has signed on to compose the score for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

If the musician has signed on, it will be his third Marvel Phase Two movie, after providing the scores for Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. Alan Silvestri composed the score for last year's Marvel's The Avengers, along with Captain America: The First Avenger.

Oddly enough, Brian Tyler revealed in a November interview with Tracksounds that he used a portion of Alan Silvestri's theme from Captain America: The First Avenger for a scene in Thor: The Dark World, and he has also discussed aspects of Captain America: The Winter Soldier's music with composer Henry Jackman. It seems that, much like the characters in this Marvel universe, the film scores in the Marvel movies are being linked together.

Joss Whedon is directing Avengers: Age of Ultron from his own screenplay, with Marvel's The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Evans (Captain America), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) reprising their roles. New cast members include Anthony Mackie (Falcon), James Spader (Ultron), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver).

Brian Tyler's other recent composing credits include Now You See Me, the Fox TV series Sleepy Hollow and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
