Two of the six writers behind the Scary Movie franchise take on the romantic comedy genre in Fox Home Entertainment's hilarious and crass spoof comedy Date Movie, debuting on DVD in both Unrated and PG-13 Rated editions on May 30. Skewering the multitudes of "mushy" conventions and poking fun at every conceivable romantic movie, Date Movie stars Alyson Hannigan (American Pie films, Buffy The Vampire Slayer), as Julia Jones, a hopeless romantic who has finally met the man of her dreams, the very British Grant Funkyerdoder (Adam Campbell)... but before they can have their Big Fat Greek Wedding, they'll have to Meet the Parents, hook-up with The Wedding Planner and contend with Grant's beautiful friend Andy, who wants to put an end to her Best Friend's Wedding. In the time-honored tradition of other wacky spoof movies like Scary Movie, Spaceballs and Naked Gun, Date Movie features hilarious send-up gags from films such as Napoleon Dynamite, Kill Bill, Wedding Crashers, Hitch, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Pretty Woman and even King Kong featuring the ultra-sexy Carmen Electra. With laugh-out-loud performances from Eddie Griffin (Undercover Brother), Fred Willard (Best in Show), Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde), Tony Cox (Bad Santa) and Sophie Monk (Click), the irreverent and crude humor of Date Movie clearly brings the romantic comedy genre to an all-time low!
Featuring over three minutes of never-before-seen footage added directly into the film, the Date Movie UNRATED edition features twelve extended / alternate scenes, hilarious audition tapes, "On Dating" featurette, cast & crew commentary, an optional laugh track, interactive game and much more. Synopsis:
In this hilarious spoof of romantic comedies, a dumpy waitress is transformed into a beautiful young woman who attracts the Hugh Grant-ish man of her dreams, but as they begin planning their wedding, they must overcome the resistance of his jealous ex-fiancé and her meddling family.
