About the film

The daring new movie from the director of Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines is a sweeping emotional drama powerfully exploring the unbreakable bond between fathers and sons.

Luke (Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling) is in constant motion, a high-wire motorcycle stunt performer who travels from town to town with the carnival. Passing through Schenectady in upstate New York, he tries to reconnect with a former lover, Romina (Eva Mendes), only to learn that she has in his absence given birth to their son Jason. Luke resolves to forsake life on the road and to provide for his newfound family, taking a job as car mechanic with Robin (Ben Mendelsohn). Robin soon discovers Luke's special talents, and proposes to partner with him in a string of spectacular bank robberies. But it is only a matter of time before Luke will run up against the law - which comes in the form of Avery Cross (Bradley Cooper).

Avery is an ambitious rookie cop navigating a local police department ruled by the menacingly corrupt detective Deluca (Ray Liotta). When Avery, just beginning to balance his profession and his family life with wife Jennifer (Rose Byrne) and their infant son AJ, confronts Luke, the full consequences will reverberate into the next generation. It is then that the two sons, Jason (Dane DeHaan) and AJ (Emory Cohen), must face their fateful, shared legacy.

The Place Beyond the Pines was released March 29th, 2013.

I missed the movie while in LA and I am very upset about it. Now the nationwide release date can't come any quicker! I'd love to win these prizes because I cannot wait to enjoy this movie with my whole family. Highly anticipated.

I should win your contest because: I've been a Patton follower since the age of 15 (now 43), I've purchased every other piece of music Mike has ever produced, and I am awaiting THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES with bated breath ... I will *rock* that t-shirt (size small, please) all over the glorious, music-loving town of Athens, GA, I'll spin that disk over the airwaves, and I'll listen to that CD till the sun comes up!

The snow angel song by Mike Patton in The Place Beyond The Pines was beautiful. I was able to watch the film yesterday and I thought the music was just amazing though out. The film was great I know I need to watch it again. By the end of the film Dane Dehanns character and Ryan Gosling felt like two different movies, but what brought them together was the musical score. Not until recently did I understand how much good music affects the quality of how good the movie will become. Mike Pattons soundtrack just elevated Derek Cianfrances ambitious film, which I found amazing. I hope their able to work on more movies in the future, because it meshed perfectly.
