There's a knock at the teacher's break room door. Who is it? Just a hungry zombie child looking to eat some brains! Lionsgate Premiere has unleashed the first red band clip from their new horror comedy Cooties. And it's sure to give any grade school educator the fright of their life!

From the creators of Saw and Glee, the infectious horror-comedy Cooties stars one heck of a comedy ensemble, with Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson & Alison Pill all fighting for their lives. The wickedly black thriller comes from the twisted minds of Leigh Whannell (co-creator of Saw and Insidious) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of Glee). And as you can see in this clip, Cooties is bringing some huge unexpected laughs along with some unapologetic scares and lots of blood red gore.

When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, and Alison Pill lead a ragtag team of teachers who must fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives. Will they survive? Or die a horrible death underneath the bleachers?

Cooties serves as a return to the horror genre for Elijah Wood, who has always bounced between different genre and drama films. In the 1998 cult favorite The Faculty, he starred on the opposite end of the high school spectrum, playing a nerd forced to save his classmates from a deadly alien invasion. Cooties offers the actor the prefect chance for a few sly callbacks to that film, as we see here in the first red band clip, which puts a decidedly different spin on the classic teacher's break room scene. The gym teacher unwittingly lets in a flesh hunger student, and all hell breaks loose as they try to stop it with plastic toy bat.

The movie is directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion, with Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller and Elijah Wood producing alongside Tove Christensen, Georgy Malkov and Steven Schneider. Cooties recently tore through the Stanley Film Festival to much acclaim. Cooties will be one of the debut releases of the newly-launched Lionsgate Premiere label, which will release the film on September 18th in select theaters and on demand. Will their be a wilder ride this fall?
