Another 80s icon has passed away this morning. Former teen star and recovering drug addict Corey Haim was found dead in his mother's apartment due to what appeared to be an accidental prescription drug overdose. Haim was pronounced dead at 2:15 am at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California.

According to TMZ, Corey had been very sick these past few days with flu like symptoms. Though none of the prescription bottles that were found around his collapsed body were related to the illness. It is being reported that Haim crawled out of bed at 1 am and fell to the floor in front of his mother. She quickly called 911, and the actor was taken to the hospital. Law enforcement on the scene stated that there were no illicit drugs found in the Burbank apartment.

Haim had been struggling with a prescription drug problem for years. Some of that battle was captured on the A&E program The Two Coreys, which was cancelled shortly after its second season with Corey's longtime co-star Corey Feldman refusing to work with the actor until he sought professional help. Feldman and Haim were a longtime on-screen duo, appearing in such classic 80s films as The Lost Boys and License to Drive.
