Let the mind games begin with the first trailer for the upcoming Criminal Minds revival, Criminal Minds: Evolution. Released courtesy of Paramount+, on which the series will debut later this month, the footage reintroduces us to the crack team of criminal profilers as they tackle the biggest threat they have ever faced – a syndicate of serial killers. Check out the trailer for Criminal Minds: Evolution below.

The BAU is back to tackle their biggest case ever in Criminal Minds: Evolution, and the deeper they dig, the darker it gets. The elite team of criminal profilers will now face their greatest threat, an UnSub who used the pandemic to build a network of serial killers. As the world opens back up, the network goes operational, and the team must hunt down one murderer at a time.

Criminal Minds: Evolution finds many of the original cast members returning, including Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, A.J. Cook as Jennifer Jareau "JJ," Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Aisha Tyler as Tara Lewis, and Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez. Sadly, both Daniel Henney and Matthew Gray Gubler, the latter of whom has been a part of the Criminal Minds team since the series began, will be absent from the revival. The mainstays will be joined by Zach Gilford as Elias Voit and Josh Stewart as Will LaMontagne Jr.

Criminal Minds first aired back in 2005, and follows a group of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Using all manner of techniques, including behavioral analysis and criminal profiling, to solve crimes and catch UnSubs across Virginia and Washington, DC, Criminal Minds also explores the personal struggles and interplay between the team members.

Criminal Minds ran for a total of 15 seasons and has seen tremendous success, spawning an entire franchise and spinning off into various series and even video games. Fans of the police procedural have been hoping for a return since the show seemingly wrapped up in 2020, and no doubt seeing the gang back together will result in much cheering before the inquisitive chin-stroking and crime-solving begins.

Criminal Minds staple Joe Mantegna has previously credited the fanbase with getting the revival off the ground. “We’re back filming. We just started last Tuesday. We’re back up,” the actor said earlier this year when providing fans with a production update. “We’re going to be on Paramount+, so we just started season 16 after a two-year hiatus. And we’re all thrilled to be back. And it’s a good group, a great group. I’ve been there for 13 seasons, and I’m glad to be back, and we look forward to new episodes out there. And our fanbase is so wonderful all over the world. I think that’s what helped bring us back.”

The two-episode premiere of Criminal Minds: Evolution will hit streaming on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, exclusively on Paramount+. New episodes when then land on the streaming platform every Thursday for the entirety of its 10-episode run.
