According to The Hollywood Reporter, computer animation firm Critterpix Studios has ferreted out $2.1 million in private financing to produce the best-selling children's book "Ollie the Otter." The financing secured from Laidlaw & Company brings CritterPix's total seed financing to $4.45 million.

"I believe CritterPix is taking the right steps in building its business," said Harold Vogel, media analyst and CritterPix investor. "Completing this financing was an important next step in the company's ultimate goal of establishing a successful animated film studio enterprise."

Funds are earmarked to cover script development as well as software animation tools and hardware platforms for the upcoming 3D feature based on Kelly Alan Williamson's book about a sea otter caught in a fisherman's net.
