According to The Hollywood Reporter, The shutdown of UPN and WB Network and the creation of their successor, the CW, has claimed its first major victim in development. Cult, the WB's drama pilot from writer/executive producer Rockne S. O'Bannon, is not going forward.

The news comes two weeks after WB announced the pickup of the project and the casting of Matthew Bomer (Fox's Tru Calling) as the lead during their portion of the Television Critics Assn.'s winter press tour and on the heels of last week's announcement about the transformation of UPN and WB into the CW. With the top series of both UPN and WB, most of them one-hour, set to transition to the CW's schedule, there are only a couple of available drama slots on the new network.
