We haven't heard much on Ridley Scott's Untitled Alien Prequel since April when it was reported that there will be two 3D prequels and now it seems a new writer has signed on. Deadline is reporting that Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof has been brought on to rewrite the Untitled Alien Prequel.

It was said that this would be Lindelof's first solo screenwriting project and also that this film could be turned into a stand-alone sci-fi film, based on the take that Lindelof and Ridley Scott came up with. The site reports that a decision won't be made until Lindelof turns his draft in.

Lindelof will be rewriting the current draft written by Jon Spaihts and the site also reports that Fox is trying to persuade Scott to take this on as his next directorial project.

Other films Scott is circling are Gucci, which has Angelina Jolie in talks to star in, The Passage from screenwriter John Logan and The Wolf of Wall Street, with Leonardo DiCaprio starring in and producing with Martin Scorsese.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further news surrounding the Untitled Alien Prequel as soon as we have more information.
