If you're keeping up with Dancing with the Stars this season, you might notice that the backstage drama is rivaling the intense competition playing out on screen. This past Monday, star Tamar Braxton was a no show at the start of the live competition. During rehersals, she had to be taken to the emergency ward, though the show never made it clear what happened. Her dancing partner Val Chmerkovskiy said she was suffering from pneumonia. Though the performer did make it back in time to participate in the final dance of the evening alongside competitor Nick Carter, she has now completely dropped out of the race.

It seems Tamar Braxton's aliment was more serious than exhaustion, as the show's opening video segment suggested. While it was believed that she was suffering from symptoms of pneumonia, the R&B singer is actually having to be treated for multiple blood clots in her lungs. Braxton shared the news on her official Instagram. Here's what she had to say about dropping out.

"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs) As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one's way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. .. And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn't the case. Take care of yourselves... I love you and thank you ALL for your support. p.s. Big hugs and kisses to my boo @iamvalc for being beyond a friend, brother and the BEST partner EVER."

The 38 year-old Tamar Braxton's exit now leaves only four partnerships in the latest Dancing with the Stars competition. This week it's assumed that they can all breath easy as they'll all be safe. Though their routines will still be judged, and their points tallied into their final scores. Bindi Irwin and her pro Derek Hough are the hands on favorites to win the Mirrorball Trophy. Though Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter isn't trailing too far behind, with his pro Sharna Burgess. Also still in the competition are hero Alek Skarlatos and pro Lindsay Arnold and Carlos PenaVega and pro Witney Carson.

Tamar Braxton isn't the only competitor who has had to drop out of Dancing with the Stars Season 21. Very early on this year, Kim Zolciak of Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding and Real Housewives fame had to leave the show for her own health problems. She is said to have also suffered a health scare when a blood clot caused a mini-stroke. And in related news, Bindi Irwin still hasn't gotten paid for being on the show, as the Los Angeles judge in charge of officiating her contract is still awaiting her father's signature. And as anyone but this judge knows, Steve Irwin passed away more than a decade ago. As you can see, the excitement of Dancing with the Stars doesn't stop when the cameras go off.
