Rob Marshall might be replacing one of this year's Oscar winners with another. According to Variety, Daniel Day-Lewis is in talks to join Rob Marshall's musical, Nine.

The actor would be taking over for Javier Bardem, who dropped out of the lead role due to exhaustion. Both actors took home statuettes at this year's Academy Awards, Day-Lewis for Best Actor in There Will Be Blood and Bardem for Best Supporting Actor in Best Picture winner, No Country for Old Men.

Day-Lewis would play the role of Guido Contini, a film director who struggles to balanace his fledgling career and the several women in his life. Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench are signed on to play the female roles.

A representative from The Weinstein Company, which is distributing the film, denied that the role had been set. "Any of the names being thrown around is pure conjecture, and when we're ready to make an announcement, we'll let you know," the representative stated.
