Untitled Michael Gondry film: According to Variety, Dave Chappelle has teamed up with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind helmer Michel Gondry to produce and star in an untitled feature to be directed by Gondry.

The pic, whose exact content is being kept under wraps is based on an idea by Chappelle and will combine music and comedy.

It was inspired by "Wattstax" a documentary of a nonstop seven-hour musical event in August 1972 at the Los Angeles Coliseum that starred soul, R&B and gospel artists and was hosted by comedian Richard Pryor.

Though the Chappelle pic won't be a concert film, Chappelle will emcee and do standup and scripted comedy. Pic will have a documentary aspect to it with some of the musical and comedy elements to be filmed live from the musical and comedy event that will take place in New York. Pic will start shooting later this month on location in Brooklyn.

Chappelle is financing the under-$5 million budgeted pic with Bob Yari's Bob Yari Prods. Chappelle will share producing credit with Gondry and Yari.

As yet no theatrical distributor is on board, but UTA, which reps Chappelle and Gondry, is repping all distribution rights to pic.

Chappelle recently inked an eight-figure deal to keep his "Chappelle's Show" on Comedy Central through 2006.

He is also attached to the feature "King of the Park" at Universal for filmmaker Tom Shadyac among other feature projects.
