David Paymer Signs on for ‘Jack Ryan’

David Paymer Signs on for ‘Jack Ryan’

David Paymer signs on to star in Jack Ryan Veteran character actor David Paymer has joined the cast of Jack Ryan for Paramount Pictures and director Kenneth Branagh.

The actor will portray a U.S. diplomat in this action-thriller, which gives us a new origin story for the title character (Chris Pine). The story takes place in Moscow, where Jack Ryan works as a stockbroker for a Russian billionaire. He must put his life on the line when he discovers a threat against the United States designed to wipe out his home country's economic system. Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, and director Kenneth Branagh also star.

David Koepp wrote the original screenplay, based on the character created by author Tom Clancy. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing alongside Mace Neufeld and David Barron.

Production is currently under way in New York City, with filming also slated to take place in Moscow and London.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was released January 17th, 2014.
