All social media is dead. Even Facebook! That's the premise behind the terrifying and awesome new concept trailer for the unbelievably long-titled sci-fi thriller Dawn of the Planet of the Zombies and the Giant Killer Plants on Some Serious Acid. As you can tell by the title, this Drive-In wannabe curbs elements from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Walking Dead, The Happening and even The Social Network.
Concept trailers are becoming big business for burgeoning filmmakers. As we saw with Kung Fury, which debuted on The El Rey Network and online last week, a 3 minute idea can capture the imagination of fans and producers alike. Another recent success story is the concept trailer for The Leviathan, which landed Ruairi Robinson a film deal. Will we soon be seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Zombies and the Giant Killer Plants on Some Serious Acid at a theater? That's entirely possible.
Dawn of the Planet of the Zombies and the Giant Killer Plants on Some Serious Acid was made by Alf Lovvold. He is a 3D graphics designer from Norway who works at graphics house Gimpville. He has crafted some beautiful staged CGI action that clearly rivals anything we're seeing at the cinemaplex this summer. Along with the trailer, the director has also released a behind-the-scenes featurette that shows what went into making this epic calling card. Is Alf Lovvold a name we'll be hearing attached to the next big sci-fi action blockbuster? Probably. Take a look:
