Deadpool 2 needs a new director after losing Tim Miller a few days ago. If a certain, emerging group of fans have their way, that director will be Quentin Tarantino. A petition has surfaced online which is calling for the Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds director to step in and make his mark on the world of superhero movies.

The petition was started on Change.org by a man named Carl Champion Jr. and as of this writing has 1,035 signatures. He reasoned that movies like Kill Bill give us a taste of what Quentin Tarantino could do with a character like Deadpool, which seems pretty fair. He also mentioned how fun it would be to have him write dialogue for Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Granted, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are still onboard to write Deadpool 2 at the moment, but it is still something fun to think about. Here is what Carl Champion Jr. had to say about why he started this petition and why Quentin Tarantino should do the movie.

"If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!"

It doesn't necessarily seem as though Quentin Tarantino has ever been overly interested in taking on a project just because it had the potential to bring in $1 billion at the box office. He is a man who seemingly does exactly what he wants to do and maintains a tremendous amount of creative control over his projects. In truth, a massive studio superhero movie seems like the kind of project that he actively avoids. Putting all of that aside, he definitely seems to have the sensibilities that could make for an excellent sequel to Deadpool.

A few days ago, it was revealed that director Tim Miller, who directed Deadpool and had a huge hand in getting the movie made in the first place, had left Deadpool 2 over "creative differences." It was later revealed that those differences had a lot to do with the casting of the mutant Cable. Reportedly, Tim Miller wanted Bloodline star Kyle Chandler, but Ryan Reynolds had other ideas. In any case, the disagreement resulted in Miller departing the project and now Fox needs to find a new director.

Quentin Tarantino has said that he intends to stop making movies after his tenth. Even if we only count Kill Bill as one movie, that only leaves him with a couple of directorial efforts remaining, should he stay true to his word. The idea of him directing a comic book movie isn't all that crazy. At one point he had expressed interest and was looking into trying to make a Luke Cage movie, but that was long before the new Netflix series came into play. Maybe Deadpool 2 will be one of his final movies? But probably not. In any case, if you want to see it happen, sign the petition and maybe tweet about it. Crazier things have happened.
