Movies released in February were never normally seen as potential blockbusters, but that all changed in 2014 when The Lego Movie set the box office on fire with $468 million worldwide. Fifty Shades of Grey opened in early February this year, earning $569 million worldwide, and 20th Century Fox's Deadpool could certainly continue the trend next year. The superhero movie has had plenty of buzz swirling around it since the Comic-Con trailer leaked in July. But we'll still have to wait until February 12, 2016 to see how this growing buzz translates into box office dollars. Collider recently spoke with producer Simon Kinberg, who confirmed that they were already talking about the sequel, Deadpool 2, while making the original movie.

"We certainly are talking about the sequel-we were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie just because when you make a film like this that's from a serialized source material, you hope that it's the first of many... But yeah [Fox is] feeling good about it, we're all feeling really proud of it, so hopefully before it comes out we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel."

20th Century Fox hasn't confirmed any plans for Deadpool 2 yet, but this isn't the first we've heard about a potential follow-up. After 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four bombed at the box office, a rumor surfaced that the studio was considering making Deadpool 2 over The Fantastic Four 2. There has also been rumors that the follow-up would include a prominent character from the comic books, X-Force leader Cable. Simon Kinberg revealed that they actually considered using Cable in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he's still not sure if the character will be in Deadpool 2 or not.

"It's certainly come up because he's such a big character in the world. And it's a character that I've always wanted to do in one form or another, we talked about Cable actually in X-Men: Days of Future Past at one point. But yeah we're in such the early stages of sequel talk it would be genuinely premature for me to say whether or not he was gonna be in it."

Before the sequel can move forward, though, the original Deadpool has to succeed at the box office. While it isn't known when we will see the second trailer, Simon Kinberg revealed that he has seen a rough cut of the movie, which he says is "fantastic." Take a look at what the producer had to say about Deadpool.

"I have seen a rough cut of Deadpool and it's fantastic. It's a really good movie. It delivers on the promise of the trailer. We really committed and leaned into it being R-rated. It's just darker and edgier and weirder in the best way-like Deadpool should be-than any other movie in the genre."

Do you think Deadpool will be a massive hit when it debuts in theaters on February 12, 2016? If a sequel does happen, Ryan Reynolds will surely be back as the Merc With the Mouth, although it isn't known if other supporting cast members such as Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller and Brianna Hildebrand will be back for this follow-up. Let us know what you think about Cable being included in the potential Deadpool sequel.
