Earlier this month, it was announced that 20th Century Fox's Deadpool will debut on Blu-ray and DVD May 10, although it won't be available on laserdisc or VHS formats just yet. One format that hasn't been mentioned is a Digital HD release, which many studios use to release their movies a few weeks earlier than the traditional route. As it turns out, Deadpool will be no different, with star Ryan Reynolds announcing on his Twitter page that the Digital HD version of Deadpool is coming earlier than expected, and will be here next week, on Tuesday, April 26.

It isn't known which special features will be included on the Digital HD release. But we learned earlier this week what will be included on the Blu-ray release. The Deadpool extras include Deleted/Extended scenes with optional commentary from director Tim Miller, a Gag Reel, and the featurette From Comics to Screen...to Screen, which shows the arduous process of bringing this beloved comic book character to life...Twice! There will also be Deadpool's Fun Sack, Audio Commentary with Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, plus a number of photo galleries.

Deadpool has taken in $360.3 million domestically and $759.4 million worldwide, from just a $58 million budget. It has shattered box office records left and right, earning the biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated movie, en route to beating The Matrix Reloaded as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. Its debut in February was also the biggest ever for 20th Century Fox, and Deadpool also has the distinction of being the highest-grossing movie in the entire X-Men franchise.

Given all of Deadpool's success, the inevitable sequel is currently in the works, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick working on the script. Director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds are returning as well, but none of the other cast members such as Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller and Brianna Hildebrand have been confirmed to return quite yet. 20th Century Fox hasn't set an official release date for the sequel at this time, so stay tuned for more details.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Take a look at Ryan Reynolds' tweet below, and stay tuned for more on the Deadpool Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD release.
