With production getting under way in Vancouver on 20th Century Fox's highly-anticipated Deadpool, star Ryan Reynolds shared the first official photo from the superhero adaptation on his Twitter page this morning. The photo gives us our first full look at the Deadpool costume, and also serves as a parody of Burt Reynolds' infamous nude bearskin rug photo from the April 1972 issue of Cosmpolitan Magazine. In addition, 20th Century Fox has released the first official synopsis, which you can check out below.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The supporting cast includes T.J. Miller (Weasel), Gina Carano (Angel Dust), Morena Baccarin (Copycat) and Ed Skrein as an unspecified character, who is believed to be the villain. Tim Miller is directing from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Take a look at the photo below, and stay tuned for more images as Deadpool starts shooting in Ryan Reynolds' hometown of Vancouver.
