Deadpool hasn't been shy this past month, and perhaps that's because he's headlining his own Christmas movie in the tradition of Die Hard and Gremlins. To celebrate the season, we were bestowed with the 12 Days of Deadpool, which brought an exciting stocking stuffer every day over the past couple of weeks. But it's really the Deadpool themed issue of Empire that's the gift that keeps giving. They've given us a poster, a cool 4D cover and an informercial. Now, we get a trio of images that highlight two of the secondary, yet very key players, in this Marvel X-Men spinoff.

That's right, Gina Carano's Angel Dust and Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead take center stage this time out. And as we know from the two new trailers that dropped on Christmas day, these two powerful foes will be going against each other with all the force of a gorilla and an out of control nuclear powered train. It might be the centerpiece fight of the film, and it will surely pull some of the attention away from Wade Wilson, who, let's admit, is a media hog.

The latest issue of Empire is coming on like a Deadpool fan's wet dream. And there will be plenty of inside intel on everyone's favorite Merc with the Mouth. Ryan Reynolds even gives a good interview. He kicks things off by addressing the fact that Wade Wilson, known for his wisecracks, had his mouth sewn shut in his first big screen introduction. Something that went against everything the character stands for. About the Merc's appearance in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the actor says this.

"Sometimes studio politics can interfere with fanboy dreams, even my own."

He then goes onto talk about how the movie ties into the overall X-Men universe. The film isn't directly connected at this stage. But two X-Men characters are making a strong appearance in Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. About bringing these two different worlds together, Ryan Reynolds explains.

"This film certainly works within the context of the X-Men universe, but it doesn't necessarily include the sensibilities of an X-Men movie. It's like taking an X-Men character, pumping him full of LSD and then releasing him back into the fold."

Interesting to note, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is wearing a New Mutants uniform, not an X-Men uniform. There has been much talk that The New Mutants will be getting their own movie soon. While no official word has been given, this definitely looks like our first step into that world. Will Brianna Hildebrand lead a New Mutants movie before the end of the decade? Perhaps, if she proves popular enough with fans. For now, you can get your Deadpool fix in the latest issue of Empire, which goes on sale Thursday, December 31. Can you think of a better way to ring in the New Year?
