After the first trailer was released back in July at Comic Con, Deadpool instantly became one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2016. While it isn't known when the next trailer will debut, composer Tom Holkenberg, a.k.a. Junkie XL, revealed over the weekend that he will be providing the score for this upcoming superhero movie. The composer announced that he starts work on the score on Monday.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The supporting cast includes Morena Baccarin as Wade's girlfriend Vanessa Carlyle, a.k.a. Copycat, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein as Ajax, T.J. Miller as Wesel, Andre Tricoteux as Colossus and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. There have been rumors that Hugh Jackman may have a cameo as Wolverine, but that has not been confirmed at this time. There has also been a rumor that 20th Century Fox is moving forward with Deadpool 2, in place of a sequel to this summer's box office bomb, Fantastic Four.

Tim Miller directs Deadpool from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool is slated for release on February 12, 2016, going up against Warner Bros.' How to Be Single and Paramount's comedy sequel Zoolander 2. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long before the next trailer debuts, but until then, check out this new photo from Deadpool.

Junkie XL most recently composed the score for Mad Max: Fury Road and Black Mass. He also scored upcoming films such as Kill Your Friends, Point Break and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
