With The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? debuting digitally on July 9 at TDOSLWH.com, director Jon Schnepp has debuted the first 10 minutes of his documentary. The filmmaker reveals that his desire to find out why Tim Burton's aborted Superman Lives movie never saw the light of day fueled him to make this documentary, where he speaks with a number of people who worked on the movie, along with comic book artists, fans, and much more. Here's what the director had to say about this extended clip.

"Enjoy the first 10 minutes of the feature film documentary The Death of 'Superman Lives'; What Happened? and find out all about the doomed Superman Lives production that was to star Nicolas Cage as the Man of Steel. Join Director Jon Schnepp as he explores the history of this project, and speaks with writers Kevin Smith, Wesley Strick, Dan Gilroy, producers Jon Peters and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Costume Designer Colleen Atwood, Director Tim Burton and many more."

This extended clip features the director speaking with a few of the crew members from Superman Returns, who reveal that director Bryan Singer kept a photo of Nicolas Cage from this aborted movie, to remind everyone that they are staying away from any aspect of the failed Superman Lives production. Of course, fans have a brand new Superman to root for with Henry Cavill in next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the franchise may have been quite different if Superman Lives would have moved forward.
