Universal Pictures and Robert Zemeckis are teaming up on an adaptation of Andrew Pyper's upcoming book Demonologist.

The story centers around a professor who studies the John Milton poem Paradise Lost, and accepts a free trip to Italy. He discovers that a demon has appeared to kill his daughter, and he must go on an arduous journey to get her back.

The book doesn't currently have a publisher as of yet, but Universal made a preemptive deal for the film rights to Andrew Pyper's manuscript.

Robert Zemeckis will produce Demonologist alongside his ImageMovers partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey.

No production schedule was given for Demonologist.
