Derek Hough might take the lead in Dirty Dancing Following quickly on the news that Michael Jackson's This Is It director and original Dirty Dancing choreographer Kenny Ortega is helming the Dirty Dancing remake, we're now starting to hear trickles of who may be cast in the film.

At the top of the list for Patrick Swayze's Johnny Castle is Derek Hough, best known as one of the dancers on Dancing with the Stars. Hough is set to make his feature film acting debut with the upcoming Cobu 3D, which centers on two star-crossed dancers who find themselves at the center of a bitter rivalry between their brothers' competing underground dance clubs.

Derek Hough is actively campaigning for the part of Johnny Castle, hoping that it will push his career in the same direction as Patrick Swayze. Producers may have different ideas, though, as Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford and Glee's Matthew Morrison are also being considered.

Though, its unlikely that Matthew Morrison will get the role, as Kenny Ortega and his crew are pushing to cast that show's Lea Michele in the role of Jennifer Grey's Frances "Baby" Houseman, and having two Glee alumni may prove to be a difficult sale. Also on Dirty Dancing's Baby radar are Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus. So, it seems they are casting on both nose and dance talent at this time.

Official casting announcements are expected soon.

Dirty Dancing was released in 2014.
