Destin Cretton, who just received rave reviews for his work on Short Term 12, is in early negotiations to direct an upcoming adaptation of Jeannette Walls' memoir The Glass Castle.

The film tells the story of a young girl, who is raised in a dysfunctional family. Her eccentric artist mother and drunken father stir their children's imagination with a hope to distract them of their poverty. Jennifer Lawrence is attached to star.

Destin Cretton would direct from a script by Marti Noxon, which he will re-write with Andrew Lanham before production starts. The director also wrote and directed the 2012 drama I Am Not a Hipster.

Jennifer Lawrence will be producing with Gil Netter. The actress most recently starred as Katniss Everdeen in Liongate's sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and will next be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Lionsgate has not released a production schedule as of yet.
