According to Variety, The Weinstein Co. has targeted Diane Lane, Thomas Jane and Mickey Rourke to topline its feature film adaptation of Elmore Leonard novel Killshot. The crime drama will start lensing in Toronto in October.

The pic, which landed Shakespeare In Love director John Madden last January, will be lensed by The Passion of the Christ cinematographer Caleb Deschanel. The script is by The Wings Of The Dove scribe Hossein Amini.

Leonard's novel follows what happens when a real estate agent (Lane) and her husband (Jane) fail at an extortion scheme, landing them both in the Federal Witness Protection program -- and on a pair of hit men's "to do" list. It's understood Rourke will play one of the hit men.

Killshot is produced by The Cider House Rules producer Richard Gladstein's Film Colony shingle and executive produced by Quentin Tarantino.
