Disney+ Day was a huge day of major announcements from the 2-year-old streaming service. Movies, series, shorts, and more were all teased as fans were glued to their phones, laptops, and tablets watching with huge smiles on their faces. One of the new animated films that were announced is Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, and it is soon making its way to Disney+. We also got a new poster for the animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid Reboot set to debut December 3rd, 2021. You can take a look below for another look at the artwork.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid follows a middle-schooler named Greg Heffley who illustrates and writes about his daily life in a diary. The series centers on Greg's adventures along with those of his best friend Rowley and aggressive older brother Rodrick. In 2010, Fox released the live-action/animated adaptation of the first book in Jeff Kinney's mega-hit Diary of a Wimpy Kid graphic novel series, which was launched in 2007. Disney acquired the rights to Kinney's work after its merger with Fox in 2019.

In the second book the story is about Greg and Rodrick, who are two brothers, are always at odds with each other and rarely ever get along. However, their parents are tired of their antics and constant fights, so they try to make them bond. Sounds like nothing could go wrong there. The book was originally released in 2008 and a live-action film was made, which is also available on Disney+.

Disney wasted no time planning what they were going to do when they got the rights to this entity. Next month, Disney+'s new animated take on Diary of a Wimpy Kid will debut. Ahead of that, as part of Disney+ Day, it's now been revealed that the sequel Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is also in the works. The books, live-action films have both proven to be very successful and it is not a big surprise that a second animated film is already in the works before the first is released. With 11 books in the series, Disney has no shortage of material to work with for movies animated or live-action. We also know that the company could create new stories with the characters for some time to come. Disney released a new poster for the upcoming sequel but other than that, we don't know when it will be released. You can take a look at the poster below.

If you want to watch the live-action films they are also available on Disney+. And of course, the animated movie debuts next month. What do you think of the announcements and the posters?
