A Die Hard movie wouldn't be a Die Hard movie without Bruce Willis. That's why he'll still be involved in Die Hard 6, despite the fact that 20th Century Fox plans to make a prequel. How is this possible? Will Bruce Willis mo-cap a younger version of himself? Will he time travel? Nope, Fox has something much more simple planned.

Bruce Willis will only appear in Die Hard 6 as a cameo. He will bookend a story in present day, with most of the action taking place in 1979 New York City. A younger actor will be brought into establish a new version of the John McClane character, which will be set 10 years before the events of the original Die Hard. No specific details were given for the story at this time.

Len Wiseman, who directed 2007's Live Free or Die Hard, is developing the project with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The producers are currently looking for a screenwriter to tackle this next phase of the McClane saga, with Len Wiseman set to direct. While Lorenzo di Bonaventura is based at Paramount, he came aboard Die Hard 6 because 20th Century Fox wanted to turn one of his other projects into a Die Hard movie. That actually happened with Die Hard: With a Vengeance, which originated from a script by Jonathan Hensleigh entitled Simon Says, that was turned into a John McClane action-thriller.

Deadline reports that Bruce Willis doesn't have a deal locked in place yet, but he has been kept in the loop the entire time. The last installment in the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard earned just $67.3 million domestically, but it fared much better overseas, earning $237.3 million for a global total of $304.6 million, from a $92 million budget. That film also starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jai Courtney as McClane's children.

Back in April 2013, rumors surfaced that Die Hard 6 will take place in Tokyo, with the tentative title Die Hardest. There were also rumors last year that Samuel L. Jackson may reprise his role as Zeus Carver from Die Hard: With a Vengeance in this sequel, but that was the last we heard about the project until now. Would you like to see two different versions of John McClane in Die Hard 6?
