The Darkness: According to Variety, Miramax genre arm Dimension Films has sealed a deal to develop Platinum Studios' The Darkness as its latest bigscreen comicbook adaptation.

The project, published through Platinum's newly acquired Top Cow brand, revolves around a 21-year-old former assassin who inherits a family secret, an unholy power known as "the darkness," which changes his life.

Platinum pitched the project as being in the vein of The Crow, another dark Dimension property.

"Darkness," which has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, is also being developed as a vidgame by Majesco.

The comic's central character, Jackie Estacado, has crossed into storylines of superhero the Hulk and is skedded to mix in the worlds of Superman and Batman in upcoming issues.
