Olympus Has Fallen director Antoine Fuqua is in early talks to direct The Equalizer, which would reunite the Training Day filmmaker with star Denzel Washington.

Richard Wenk (16 Blocks) wrote the screenplay based on the hit CBS TV series The Equalizer, which ran for four seasons between 1985 and 1989. The show centered on Robert McCall (Edward Woodward) a former covert operative who lives a life of solitude and devotes himself to helping others in need. The movie will follow that basic premise, with Denzel Washington portraying a modern character who truly despises any form of injustice, devoting his life to helping people from being victimized.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Alex Siskin, Mace Neufeld, Tony Eldridge, and original series creator Michael Sloan are producing the remake for Sony Pictures and Escape Artists. The $50 million production is eyeing a late spring/early summer production start in Boston.
